Where you meet it
Nginx in front of a backend that crashed.
What to test
- On a test environment, stop the backend service and open the site → a friendly error page, not a raw nginx or proxy page.
- Read that error page and its response → no internal IP addresses, host names or server versions.
- Start the backend again and reload the site → it works without any additional steps.
