The browser sent If-None-Match or If-Modified-Since.
What to test
- Open a page, then reload it with the Network tab open → images, scripts and styles that didn't change come back as 304.
- Change something visible (e.g., a product title in the admin), then reload the page normally → the new value shows, not the cached old one.
- After a deploy, open the site in a browser that visited it before, without clearing the cache → the site works with no errors (no mix of old and new files), and the new version shows right away or within the stated cache time.
